Don’t Worry, Be Happy

I have been asked to do a workshop on happiness this week, at a time when I have seen a lot of publicity about being happy. With the current state of our economy and warfare, and the challenges of raising grandchildren, it’s no wonder that people are struggling to be happy.
I recently discovered the American Happiness Association on Facebook. The online organization offers memberships, newsletters, workshops and teleseminars, and outreach programs for seniors, the unemployed, veterans, widows and widowers and foster families, to name a few. For more information, go to www.americanhappiness.org.
I also subscribe to www.Oprah.com and receive regular email updates because her program and website offer a wealth of information on health, wellness and finance. While browsing, I ran across an article written by Dr. Robert Holden called, “10 Ways to Find Happiness,” and wanted to share it with you.
I am not going to go into detail about the “10 Ways…” because I want you to read them on your own. However, the list goes like this:
- Define Happiness
- Accept Happiness
- Follow Your Joy
- Choose Happiness
- Free Happiness
- Love Someone
- Forgive Now
- Vocal Gratitude
- Beware of Martyrdom
- Be Present
The one on which I want to focus today is “Follow Your Joy.” This means to follow your passion and your purpose. When you know your life’s purpose, things just seem to work out naturally. You are connected with the path on which you were meant to travel. Your purpose is what inspires you and touches your heart.
So often, we go through life not knowing our true purpose and what we should be doing right now. It is never too late to find your purpose, or know how to channel that purpose into something that makes you happy.
Your purpose can be found by looking at your strengths, gifts and talents, your values, your personality type and your dreams as a child. It can also be found by looking at your roles in the community, at work and at home, which includes raising your grandchildren.
Whatever your purpose, when you discover it, you will find a great sense of satisfaction and happiness in your life. Again, it is never too late to find what that is.
If you are currently struggling with happiness, or just want to discover ways of increasing your happiness level, I invite you to do 3 things:
- Go to www.americanhappiness.org and browse through their site for tips on being happy.
- Go to www.oprah.com and read Dr. Robert Holden’s article, “10 Ways to Find Happiness.”
- Go to my POWERDRIVE to Success Blog and read “What is Your Purpose?”
If you have any questions about finding happiness or finding your purpose, please contact me for more information, or to request a complimentary sample coaching session. I also invite you to post your comments and let me know if this was helpful to you.
Warmly,
